Hi all,

just fitted the bridge back into the turntable.
I've done quite a bit of weathering to this and am happy with the result.
Only have to do the outer ring now and waiting for the signals.

I wonder....... what if you built a grid out of paper or thin card, then you place that inbetween the track and pour the plaster in each grid square.
Let it set for hour or so and then pull the card out. Then you should get a nice looking edge and no cutting and filing required

Cheers, Evert

Hi all,

while I didn't build a grid like Evert suggested, I decided to build a mould.
Used scrap styrene.
Glued it in a angle to hopefully keep it square.
Secured with some masking tape and filled with plaster.
Waiting for it to set and see if I'll be successful.

Okay the mould came off the first pour very nicely.
First photo.
Then I made some front and rear styrene strips and secured them, for between the
two slabs I placed a strip of sticker backing.
Second photo.
Then I poured the second slab.
Third photo.
Now I removed the styrene strips, but the sticker backing paper has partially gotten stuck and gone soft
as well, so I can't remove it.  :(

Your Turn Table is looking absolutely stunning, I love it.

Good idea with the styrine and the plaster. Looks good and seems to work well.
Did you managed to get the piece of tape out?

I would almost go for the full slab and then scribe or cut the slabs once it is almost dry.

Thanks, I'm happy how it turned out.

Nope.

I would almost go for the full slab and then scribe or cut the slabs once it is almost dry.
That is going to be my next attempt. Stay tuned.

Hi all,

okay I have now done a full slab.
First I made a border at the back of the round house with the 25 x 25 mm blocks, photo 1,
and then I filled the rest up with plaster.
Photo two.
Let it set for a while and then scribed my blocks and a few cracks as well.
Photo three.

Yes, Yes...... NB Yessssss

That will look awesome once it is painted.
And I'm sure it saves you a tone of time and frustration.  :thumb:

Agreed - that is a great look. Experiment with stain on the "offcuts" but I think it will look stunning...  :thumb:

Hi all,
well it's taken a while, but I have finally completed the "concrete" floor for the round house.
Now it needs to dry out completely and then the color stage comes.
Maybe in a day or two.

Christmas update,
I painted a first coat of strongly diluted grey water paint over it.
Then I parked a Loco just for effect.
Second coat drying now.

Hi all,
after the second grey coat had dried I applied a very thin black wash over
the floor.
First photo.
Then I decided just for the fun of it to fill up the " roundhouse " with locos.

Hi all,

my first post this year.
Didn't do much over the holidays besides loaf and relax.
Ran some trains, had a few braais and a bottle of bubbly.  ;D
I did how ever do some work on the overhead wire system, catenery.
Did this section over the double crossover, not done yet, but getting there.
